6 Perfect Things
Like a winter novella and some vintage Emily Dickinson
Winter Time by CRW Nevinson
These badly drawn portraits of your favorite (and, ahem, least favorite) writers. (I’ll let you guess who on this list I can’t stand.)
A moving, extremely winter-y novella, by none other than Colm Tóibín.
This little reading light has enough (warm!) light to read in bed and it doesn’t annoy my husband.
This one is a deep track, but the Spring 2025 Granta, which I just nabbed from Lost City Books, has a short story that is a sequel to Susie Boyt’s unforgettable poignant Loved and Missed. Scurry out to your local indie or buy a copy here.
Emily Dickinson stamps are still the best stamps.
Coming in Summer 2026, new Ann Patchett!

So hard to find reading lights with warm light. Thanks for the recommend!
The gossip in me desperately wants to know who among those badly drawn portraits you can't stand.
